I Know I Look GOOD!!!!!!

Hey my fellow thriftanistas have you ever had that moment where you rocked a thrifty look that was sooooooo fabulous you couldn’t take your eyes of YOURSELF? I had that moment last Saturday when I attended my high school’s all classes reunion party. First let me say that this was a white party (not people…….attire). So of course when I found out about the event the first thing I thought was what would I wear? I racked my brain trying to figure out what I had in my vast thrifty wardrobe only to realize I had nothing to wear. I know you are like sure YOU had nothing to wear? I swear it’s the truth. I apparently don’t thrift very many white items. This meant it was time to go THRIFTING. My goal was to find a really  HOTTTT white dress. On my first thrifting excursion I found a really cute white dress by ZARA. However I wasn’t quit sure I wanted to wear it. In that moment I remembered that I had thrifted a beautiful pair of white Trina Turk Los Angeles pants at the Salvation’s Army’s 87 cent per pound sale. In my mind I could see me rocking them with a fabulous white fitted blazer………… so back to the thrift store I went. Unfortunately I didn’t find the style I wanted. I was a little bummed but I decided I would just wear the cute ZARA dress and pair it with some hot accessories. Outfit complete so I thought. Two day’s later I stopped in my local thrift store to kill some time and the when it happened. I was in the store 3 minutes when the most beautiful white corset jumped out at me. I could not believe it. It would go with my pants perfectly adding that HOTTTT element I would looking for. The corset was $4,99 and NOT ON SALE but I was SOLD. I paid for my new white corset and hightailed it out the store. I got home and put the corset with the pants and new I would look good kicking it with my fellow EAGLES. Party night rolled around and when I put on my thrifty white outfit I felt FIERCE. I had ditched my thrifted mommy flats and became a SEXY THRIFTANISTA. I LOOKED GOOD!!!!!! Check out the pictures below to see how I paired my thrifty finds to create one SMOKING HOTTTT outfit. Oh and I had a great time with my LINDBLOOM EAGLES.

Until Next Time Smooches,

I Missed You All!

Hey my fellow thriftanistas I know it has been a looooonnnnnnnngggggggg time since my last blog. What can I say I have been extremely busy being SUPER mom. I don’t know why I thought that it was MY summer to get a little relaxation. What the hell was I thinking????? My mommy life has been busier than ever. So here is the latest and greatest. Over the last month my daughter participated in an end of the year talent showcase, a movie filming, rehearsals, rehearsals, rehearsals, got a chance to meet one of Beyonce’s choreographers and auditioned with her friends for a competition called Demi Lobo’s Most Talented Under 12. Oh let me not forget they rocked the audition and are going to the semi-finals in Atlanta, GA. In addition to that I have a busy, lively, smart and did I say busy almost 4-year-old. I need to take a breath just from typing all that. Needless to say my busy family schedule has not left me with a lot of leisure time. I know what your thinking OH NO has THE THRIFTY FASHIONISTA not had time to THRIFT? The answer is I will NEVER be too busy to sneak in a quick thrifting excursion. Unfortunately I have just been to busy to really sit down and tell you guys about it. However I’m back now………. I THINK. I want to thank you all for sticking with me and continuing to follow my blog. I promise I have some great things coming up.

Okay so now that I have you all caught up on my life LETS TALK THRIFTING. In my last blog I told you all about my first ever thrift buy the lb experience. It was AWESOME and AMAZING. Thrifting BUY the LB!

Hey my fellow thriftanistas I will keep this post short and sweet. Recently one of my Local Salvation Army’s had a thirft BUY the LB (pound) sale. They had boxes, and boxes and more boxes of merchandise to look through. Oh and did I mention all the items were 87 cent a pound? Can you say phenomenal? I had never seen anything like it in my life. I have heard of stores doing this in other cities. However I never knew of anyone having this sale in Chicago. Of course you know THE THRIFTY FASHIONISTA had to check it out. I found some amazing thrifted treasures. There were to many to photograph so please check out the video below to see all of my fabulous finds. Spoiler alert I scored another pair of Manolo Blahnik’s.

Todays Fashion Are Hot No Doubt……..But a Vintage Look Will Make You Really Stand Out!!

All fashion repeats itself. There may be small variations but I would venture to say that 98% of today’s fashions originated with a fabulous look from the past. The thing that I truly love about wearing vintage clothing is that it allows me to be UNIQUE. I don’t have to worry about seeing my look over and over again because there isn’t carbon copies of the items in every store. Don’t get me wrong I love SOME (not all) current trends  but every now and then I get really inspired to rock a hot vintage look. While other times I may wear something current and just add a fabulous vintage piece to the mix (brooch, purse, jacket, necklace, etc). You know as John Witherspoon said in Boomerang “you’ve got to cooooooorrrrrdinate”. With spring just around the corner, I decided to see what new and fabulous vintage looks I could create. You know I’ll have to be able to style and profile in the warm weather months. Check out my Vintage Style: 101 video to see some of the fabulous vintage pieces I own and how I put them together. I hope the video inspires you to add a little vintage to your wardrobe. I’m sure I don’t need to give this disclaimer but I will anyway. EVERYTHING IS THRIFTED!!!!! I’m the Thrifty Fashionista so I’m sure you expected nothing less.

Mardi Gras Beads for Me Oh No….. But for Thrifty Deals I Was Ready to Go

Hey my fellow thriftanistas Tuesday was Unique/Spree Thrift Store Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday sales extravaganza. They had a spend $25.00 get $10.00 off coupon for this event. You know your girl was at the door BRIGHT and EARLY. I knew this event was coming up because I had received a coupon for it 2 weeks earlier. You know that coupon was burning a hole in my cute thrifted purse. One thing to note about Unique Thrift Store is that when they have coupon sales they are given out in advance. In most cases on the day of the sale they will not give out a coupon , you have to bring it to the store with you. However if you don’t shop often like me and still need a coupon for to the event just go to their website to print out a copy. They absolutely honor the printed copies as well. You can also check their website for upcoming sales.

Okay so back to my Mardi Gras thrifting adventure. If you have read my previous blog you know that I have taken a forray into the world of video blogging. I wanted to really be able to document and share my thrifting adventures with you guys. On Tuesday I decided to take it one step further and take you all shopping with me.  It was definitely an interesting experience. If you all could see me trying to shop, video tape and push the cart, it was HILARIOUS! What can you do though I’m a ONE WOMAN show. I found some great items and spent a total of $18.84 wooooohoooooooo. The video segment ended up being longer than I thought so I broke it up into 2 segments. Please check out my adventure below.

Confessions of a Thrift Store Fashionista…….Thrift Haul the Sequel!!!!

Hey my fellow thriftanista’s I hope you all had a wonderful President’s day. Did you go and take advantage  of the fabulous 50% off sales going on in your neck of the woods? If so what FABULOUS things did you find to add to your thrifty wardrobe? I have spent my day working on my new endeavor……..video blogging.  I have been greatly inspired by all of the fabulous thrift haul videos on Youtube. I posted my first video last week and although the haul was GREAT the video quality wasn’t that good.  My camcorder wasn’t working correctly so my video was a tad dark. However not one to be deterred  I went out and bought myself a new Sony Bloggie so I could take 2.  So with out further ado here is Confessions of a Thrift Store Fashionista………Thrift Haul the Sequel. I would love to here what you think so please leave me a comment.

The Valentines Day Dollar Holla!!!! What Can You Buy for a $1.00

Roses are red, violets are blue I had a fabulous Valentines Day, how about you? Okay I know that Valentines Day was a couple of days ago but my computer put me on punishment and wouldn’t allow me to talk to you guys and gals (it was acting CRAZY). Any-who for me Valentines Day means spending time with the ones you love most and doing what makes you happy. This V-Day I did both. I spent the evening with the loves of my life (my babies) and the earlier part of the day doing what I love. Can you guess what that is? I will give you a hint, it’s starts with a thr and ends with an ift. If you guessed thrift you would be correct. Vanna tell them what they won, a new ……………. just kidding. On Tuesday one of my favorite thrift store chains had a fantabulous (spell check says this is a made up word) Valentines Day sale. The sale was $1.00 for anything red, pink or with hearts. Yes I said it $1.00. That can be $1.00 bill, 4 quarters, 10 dimes, 20 nickles or 100 pennies. Anyway you slice it you can’t beat a “dollar holla”. I dropped my kids off at school that morning and was off to have some V-day fun.I got to the thrift store at about 9:15 a.m. and headed straight for the coat aisle. Take note one of the major rules I use when shopping a sale like this one is to get as much bang for my buck as possible. What this means is that instead of getting the $5.99 shirt for a $1.00, I go for the $29.99 coat for that very same $1.00. There is a much greater value in getting the higher priced item for a $1.00. Anyway back to the coat aisle. I found 11 amazing coats and jackets for a grand total of $11.00. I also found 3 pair of cute pants. My Valentines Day was off to a great start and this was just the beginning. I visited 2 other stores 0n my Valentines Day journey. In total I bought 23 items that would have retailed for $329.27  and I only spent $23.00 plus tax. How can you beat it??? I bought to many items to show all the pictures so I created my first thrift haul video. Please click the link below to watch the video. It was my first video so please be kind. Make a girl feel good about herself. All in all I would have to say that I had a wonderful Valentines Day. I spent time with my first, second and third loves (my daughter, my son and thrifting)……..ain’t love GRAND!
