I Love Thrifting Off Season!

Hey my fellow thriftanistas sorry this post is so late in the evening. It’s been a very busy day. Let me ask you all a question. Do you thrift off-season???? I do and I LOVE IT. I have thrifted some of my greatest treasures when I shop off-season. I shop this way for 2 reasons. First even in resale off-season clothing seems to be priced cheaper. The second reason is that I am easily able to scoop up the fabulous off-season fashions because most shoppers are looking for things to wear right now. With that in mind a few weeks ago I decided I would not thrift anymore summer fashions. It’s only so many summer dresses one can have and I have A LOT. So instead on my most recent thrifting adventures I have been looking to get some fabulous fall finds. My latest excursion took me to one of my favorite Salvation Army’s. One thing to note about the Salvation Army is that each week they have 1 color ticket half off. This weeks 50% ticket is tan. I stepped in the store got my cart and let the hunt begin. I love this Salvation because they price most of their merchandise very  reasonably. To make a long story short I bought 2 coats, 1 jacket, and 4 dresses for a total of $13.10. Needless to say I had an awesome thrifting day. I could have gotten much more but I TRY to pace myself ;). Check out the pictures below to see my amazing fall finds.

I Know I Look GOOD!!!!!!

Hey my fellow thriftanistas have you ever had that moment where you rocked a thrifty look that was sooooooo fabulous you couldn’t take your eyes of YOURSELF? I had that moment last Saturday when I attended my high school’s all classes reunion party. First let me say that this was a white party (not people…….attire). So of course when I found out about the event the first thing I thought was what would I wear? I racked my brain trying to figure out what I had in my vast thrifty wardrobe only to realize I had nothing to wear. I know you are like sure YOU had nothing to wear? I swear it’s the truth. I apparently don’t thrift very many white items. This meant it was time to go THRIFTING. My goal was to find a really  HOTTTT white dress. On my first thrifting excursion I found a really cute white dress by ZARA. However I wasn’t quit sure I wanted to wear it. In that moment I remembered that I had thrifted a beautiful pair of white Trina Turk Los Angeles pants at the Salvation’s Army’s 87 cent per pound sale. In my mind I could see me rocking them with a fabulous white fitted blazer………… so back to the thrift store I went. Unfortunately I didn’t find the style I wanted. I was a little bummed but I decided I would just wear the cute ZARA dress and pair it with some hot accessories. Outfit complete so I thought. Two day’s later I stopped in my local thrift store to kill some time and the when it happened. I was in the store 3 minutes when the most beautiful white corset jumped out at me. I could not believe it. It would go with my pants perfectly adding that HOTTTT element I would looking for. The corset was $4,99 and NOT ON SALE but I was SOLD. I paid for my new white corset and hightailed it out the store. I got home and put the corset with the pants and new I would look good kicking it with my fellow EAGLES. Party night rolled around and when I put on my thrifty white outfit I felt FIERCE. I had ditched my thrifted mommy flats and became a SEXY THRIFTANISTA. I LOOKED GOOD!!!!!! Check out the pictures below to see how I paired my thrifty finds to create one SMOKING HOTTTT outfit. Oh and I had a great time with my LINDBLOOM EAGLES.

Thrifty Look of the Day!

Good Afternoon my fellow thriftanistas. Back in May I posted a picture of me in a cute thrifted brown and floral peasant dress. The dress was a Village Discount Outlet 90 cent special. At the time it was still cool in Chicago so I paired the dress with a tank underneath and my favorite pair of moccasins. Now that we are in the fabulous warm weather months I put a new spin on an old favorite. Check out the picture below to see 1 fabulous dress with 2 different looks. I love transitional clothing :).

Fabulous Weekend Finds!

Good morning my fabulous, fashionable, fellow thriftanistas. As promised today I will reveal my fabulous finds from my weekend thrifting treasure hunt. The sales were phenomenal and I got some deals you just won’t believe. Spoiler alert……… I got a new pair of Yves Saint Laurent shoes for 45 cent. Close your mouth, yes I said 45 cent. I also got a pair of new Joan and David shoes for 45 cent. I know, I know you are wondering how I did it. Let me tell you the story. One of the resale stores I shop at is Village Discount Outlet. If you have never been to the Village let me just tell you they have some AMAZING deals. However you need to be a true thrifter to shop there. You don’t have to dig through the stuff but you truly have to take your time and look. Okay back to the 45 cent shoes. One of the great things about the Village is that they offer special tag items. What this means is that at any given time you may find an item that has a 90 cent special tag. Occasionally you may even find a 10 cent special tag. Stop looking at the computer like that, yes I am serious. Any-who there doesn’t seem to be any special rhyme or reason as to what gets priced at 90 cent but I love it. Back to this weekend, while perusing the shoes aisles two 90 cent tags jumped out at me. When I picked the items up I discovered they were a pair of Joan and David shoes and a pair of Yves Saint Laurent shoes. Did I also mention that the store was having a 50% off sale??? Yes be amazed my shoes went from 90 cent to 45 cent (I actually bought the shoes for my mommy). I was on a thrift high. In addition I found a Brooks Brothers shirt and a Ralph Lauren shirt for 45 cent and that was just the beginning of my day. The one thing about the 90 cent items is that the store takes the ticket off at purchase and keeps them. They have to keep track of how many 90 cent items they sale. So in the pictures you will see that my 90 cent items don’t have a ticket. However I was lucky in the fact that the sales girl missed taking one of my 90 cents tags off. There is a sample tag in the picture for you all to see. I just want to make sure when you shop at the Village you know what to look for :). Check out my other wonderful weekend finds below.

Until next time smooches,

The Look for Less: Nautical Edition

Hey my fellow thriftanistas happy Thursday. Last night I went to an event for my dad. He has been a  radio personality in Chicago for 43 years. For 25 of those years he has worked at WBEZ which is Chicago Public Radio. In celebration of this wonderful accomplishment the radio station threw him a party. Friends and family from all aspects of his life came out to support him and show their love. Did I mention the event was at Chicago’s Navy Pier? Of course you know me being “The Thrifty Fashionista” one of the first things I thought about was what would I wear. My mind immediately thought the pier, boats and an outside deck equals nautical fashion. The nautical look is a big trend right now so it can be found in every popular retail store. However you know my shopping destination was my nearest thrift store. I was on the hunt for the hottest nautical pieces to create a fabulous party worthy ensemble. Do you think I was succesful? Check out the pictures below of my nautical look for less. I event outfitted my whole family in thrifted red, white and blue fabulous fashion. The Gap kids have nothing on my babies. By the way the party was amazing and I am so proud of my dad. Pictures from the party will be available on my FB page Confessions of a Thrift Store Fashionista.
