Reduce, Re-use, Recycle……..REMAKE

When I think of thrifting three words come to mind Reduce, Re-Use, Recycle. This is the mantra on everything that talks about going GREEN. However for me another important R word in the world of thrifting is REMAKE. I can’t tell you how many times I have bought something from the thrift store only to get it home and transform it into something new. Sometimes it is something as simple as changing the buttons. Where as other times I may make a skirt shorter (y’all know I’m fast), take the sleeves out of a blouse, cut up a t-shirt, or combine two items to give me a hot new look. I get to create my own unique style and all it cost me is a few dollars, my time and vision. Sometimes when you’re thrifting you have to look past the basic item and see the great possibilities it holds. This brings me to my remake  item of the day.  In a previous blog I told you all how I bought 12 pair of UGG boots for $107.68. Not all the UGG’s were in top-notch condition but I knew that I could turn them into something FABULOUS. In perusing UGG’s website one day I saw that they had come out with a cute new pair of paint splatter UGG’s. Me being “THE THRIFTY FASHIONISTA”,  I decided I could paint splatter my own pair. I took my $6.99 pink UGG boots, hard bristle brush, 5 different color paints and my Mini Fashionista assistant Jordan and we created a cute new boot. I would like that thank all of you nice people for donating your OLD UGG’s. Because of you I have a “NEW” pair of paint splatter UGG,S. Check out the DIY video below to watch Jordan and I give you our step by step process for REMAKING my UGG boots. Remember Reduce, Re-use, Recycle……… REMAKE!

Fashionista, this is an awesome idea! I’d love a pair of paint splattered jeans for spring! Thanks for the great idea!
