Gucci, Gucci, Gucci

I love to look FABULOUS. However I don’t believe in taking the food out of my kids mouth just to wear somebody else’s name across my ass. I will wear whatever I think is cute and fits my personal sense of style. I am not a LABEL WHORE ( those that exclusively by high end, name brand clothing). I leave the “WHORING” (label purchasing) to those people who will spend their last dime just to rock the latest name brands. Then when they have outgrown it (gained a few pounds or lost a few), gotten tired of it (the celebs aren’t wearing it anymore), or have just moved on to the next trend, I swoop in. I take my fabulous, fashionable self and go to the thrift stores where these “old” clothes have been donated. This allows me to have Gucci on my feet while spending Payless money. Come to think of it I guess I really shouldn’t say PAY LESS cause damn they have gotten expensive. Any-who this brings me to my thrifty find of the day. Can you say Gucci, Gucci, Gucci?

Recently I was out and about looking for my latest thrifting fix when I decided to stop by one of my favorite spots. I had not been there in about a week and was anxious to see what new item would call my name. Yes, I am serious certain items in the thrift store call to me. They say “Thrifty Fashionista please take me home”. Who am I to tell them NO. Okay back to my story. I got to the store and went directly to my favorite place, the shoe aisle. As I began looking through the racks and racks of shoes my thrifty eye spotted a cart with new merchandise. I quickly made my way over to the cart to take a sneak peek. That’s when it happened, a golden light shined on a pair of shoes. Okay I’m joking there was no light but I did spot a pair of Gucci gymshoes. I took them out the cart and looked on the bottom of the shoe for the price. To my surprise they were ONLY $5.49.  I quickly put them in my cart and headed for the check out lane. I had definitely found my fix for the day. I suspect the person pricing them did not realize that they were authentic Gucci. Their ignorance was my thrifting bliss. Remember I wrote in one of my previous blogs KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. I was even more excited when I went on Gucci’s website and discovered that the shoes I had just purchased retailed for $410. I would like to take a moment to thank the person that bought and then donated my “new” Gucci’s. I am forever thankful to you. The other awesome part of my story is that my “new” Gucci shoes matched my “new” Gucci purse I bought from the same store 3 months earlier. I wouldn’t be a label whore for $410 but for $5.49 I will gladly wear the title. I know this may sound ass backwards to some, but in the world of thrifting it makes perfect CENTS. 🙂

I would like to take this time to thank everyone that has been reading my blog, offering positive feedback and spreading the word. Confessions of a Thrift Store Fashionista is my outlet, but in no way is it meant to convince everyone in the free world to stop shopping retail. Hell if they did my thrifty wardrobe would not be so fabulous and I wouldn’t have anything to blog about. However I do want this blog to shine a bright light on the fabulous world of thrifting. If you have not tried it yet, trust me you should. If you aren’t ready that’s okay just continue to come along on this journey with me. I will be your Eyes, Ears and Guide to Everything Hott in the World of Thrifting.
